If you have passion for writing, and you think you can write, then you should give it a try. The internet is a treasure trove of opportunities for writers of all kinds. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out, there are platforms waiting for you to share your voice and make some money. There are platforms which I tried out, to make money through writing, it is a kind of passive income. Recently, I read somewhere, there is nothing like passive income, you need to be active to earn, So I am thinking that I should stop using this word. Anyways, let’s get started with the platforms.

1. Medium

This is first writing platform I became familiar with, in my whole life. Medium is a fantastic space for all kinds of writers—from personal bloggers to aspiring journalists. What’s awesome about Medium is its Partner Program, which allows you to earn money based on the engagement your stories receive. Engagement is the number of views or reads your stories receive. For getting readers and reads, you need to put in a little effort first to establish a following.

I will suggest you to first get some followers and subscribers, after that you can join the partner program to earn, as you need to pay to join the partner program. I am also new there, and I am doing the same. When you write and publish on Medium, a portion of the subscription fees from readers goes to you, depending on how much time they spend reading your work. You can write about anything you're passionate about, and with the right topics and engaging writing style, you can attract a decent following!

2. Substack

This is the second writing platform , I joined. If you’ve got a passion for crafting newsletters, Substack might be your golden ticket. This platform allows you to create and send out your newsletter to subscribers, and the best part? You control the monetization! You can offer free content or charge for premium subscriptions.

For that you need to have subscribers first, I will suggest you to get free subscribers first, and build a loyal relation with your subscribers, then you can move on to paid. Mostly, writers are giving the option of both free and paid ones, and it’s better. If you can build a loyal audience who loves what you do, you could be looking at some steady income.
